Thunder got Kevin Martin + some bench people and first round picks.

Rockets got Harden and a few ( like 2 or 3) bench players.

Thoughts?

It's a win win for both sides.

Houston is the 5th biggest NBA market, and Dale Morey really needed a star to showcase. He tried stockpiling assets to land Dwight Howard, but he ended up going to the Lakers. With Harden, they have a stud star in Harden with a marketing goldmine in Lin (Who also has star potential). Those two, coupled with the defensive presence of Asik and the rookies, could propel the Rockets into a dark horse candidate for a playoff spot.

OKC gets a serviceable sixth man in Kevin Martin who, combined with Jeremy Lamd, will replicate about 70-80% of Harden's production. However, Sam Presti continues to amaze me on how he can stockpile young assets while succeeding. Jeremy Lamb, if played out to his full potential, could even surpass Harden. He has an excellent stroke, can shoot behind the arc, and has freakish athleticism (7"2 wingspan) like a poor man's Westbrook. They also receive picks (Two First rounders, one second rounder). Although one of the first rounders is top 20 protected, the other, originally from the Raptors, is only top 3 protected.

i do see some postives in terms of salary for the Thunder and more spotlight on Houston due to Harden getting that starting 2 spot.

I can't argue with you but i don't think Lamb or even Martin will bring the chemistry/energy that Harden brought every time he stepped on the court. Its impossible for me or anyone to downplay Lamb/Martin's athletics, but i think there's going to be a huge difference in teammate chemistry that will affect the thunder in the long run.

I don't know about the long term effects of this deal. Instead of having their roster limited to Westbrook-Durant-Ibaka-Harden, they now have a possible line up with Perry Jones and Lamb in the picture (Assuming they amnesty Perkins).
