  1. Hey guys I am making this topic to express my views on what caused/is causing the current downill in the pure community. Take it or leave it these are the things I feel most devastated the Pure Community. They are in order of best-->worst 7:- Removal of Wilderness December 2007. Yes this is a given but it must be noted. Prior to this update, people would literally make a level 3, xfer it some gold and begin pking/looing from level 3 in F2P Varrock. This was a great time of prosperous pures and it was a thing everyone was doing and was interested in. I myself began my pure after constantly getting raped by them and being in awe of their great stats at low combats. 6:-Nerfed Loots in PvP and BH worlds. In these worlds, it was very common to down someone with a significant risk and get garbage loot. This made PKing horrible money, and was not a viable way to make ends. This led people to skill for their money, hence, stranding them away from the wilderness and PvP for money. 5:-Community. As many veterans (2005-2006) of the golden age of runescape started to quit, a new breed of dumb, immature, and trolling kids started to emerge into the wild. People no longer PKed for the thrill of killing someone for their things,but rather to risk as minimum as possible to get kills and rag/annoy others of honour/significant risk out of the wild. 4:- Inactivity of clans in the wilderness/ 2011 clan wars. Clan wars is probably the worst thing possible that has affected the wild. Why? Because it allowed players, for the first time, to be able to wear whatever gear they wanted, with the best possible bonuses and to get a kick out of PvP at the same time. The new 2011 clan wars even featured a new system of PvP where you could kill people for their things, with an options featured that actually stripped away the risk and challenge of the wilderness. 3:Return of the "Old" wilderness. Now this one may seem controversial and hypocritical but the truth is, with the Old wilderness back, combined with a new garbage community consisting of RWTing 10-12 year olds and a spread out Wilderness system, the wild has come to die since it was first reintroduced. When it was first introduced in February, 2011, it was great and many people expected a revival of the game, but the PvP system that came soon began to crumble. What people don't realize is that with the introduction to the new wild, many things such as designated PK worlds, Risk Requirements, and Populated City areas were diminished with the Old Wild system coming back. Now kids can 1 item with ags/monkrobes/turm and strength amulet and still get the same loot a high risker can get. This, in my opinion, has created a great PvP imbalance being that now players realize they can risk garbage and rag and still get significant loot. 5:Clans becoming competitiveness on these forums. It is gamer's nature to be competitive to another clan. But what is not needed is the excess flame, DDOSING, hacking, and flaming of other clans just to prove that they are stronger, won a midweek/weekend run in, or to get back at a clan for beating them. We must remember that this is just a game and although clans may be competitive, they should remain truthful to the event, and not take ANY action outside of the game to affect another player. 2:Banning Mayhem Makers from these boards. I am not in MM or have ever been. However, I know that they are one of the most stable, prestigious, and oldest clans around to this day. First started in early 2004, This clan has thrived and through better or worse, kept true to the legendary idea of a Pure, never extending their defense cap since first entering the world of clanning. They excel in both P2P and F2P Servers thanks to their core ranks, member base, and of course, high pulls. But before people begin to say I am sucking them off, let me address why I think they shouldnt have been banned. I realize that they crashed the RvB F2P Fullouts after opposing both Red and Blue sides being that EoP and FOE were on separate sides. (They are rivals with both) and can address thier point of view and can determine that in all fairness they were only looking for a challenge. They were ~80 PURES with MONK ROBES attack the RvB, which consisted of over 10+ clans. If there was a big concern with them "crashing" when RvB combined had upwards of 300OPTS, you should've just cleared them and gave them the challenge they earned for. Anyone who knows MMs background knows that they are currently the largest role models for new pures 1-20 defense. They are personally an inspiration and should be unbanned from these forums because if there is anyone that can save the dying defintion of pure, it is them 1: Introduction of Turmoil. Now Im not going to drag this on as I know there are many 30 def topics out there, too many to name so let me just cut to the chase. Turmoil has plagued this community ever since soon after it was introduced. I'll be honest, at first, it wasn't so bad as clans were extremely strict about the 29-30Defense cap and not many people had/could afford turmoil in the BH era. Nowadays, one can just RWT about 80-100m, buy 95 Prayer, and quest up their defense to become a turmoil pure. As clans have gotten more sleazy on the defense reqs and allowed adamant on F2P trips, which was "never acceptable" in the first clans to accept turmoil, the community is now being plagued with defense, defeating the purpose of a pure. It is getting worse clan by clan, clans accepting addy on f2p trips and clans that encourage their members to get unquested defense levels. It is truely devastating. Now here is the great answer to the great "What are we supposed to do about it question?". Obviously, a clan isnt expected to boot all of their 31+ defense member so here is my suggestion. CAP YOUR DEFENSE LEVELS AT 30 WITH TURMOIL, SIMPLE. NOT ANY HIGHER, NOT UNQUESTED, THE WAY IT WAS IN ITS PRELIMINARY INTRODUCTION. DONT ALLOW ADDY ON F2P TRIPS. This is the only solution to all you 30+ Defense clans. Thanks for reading! Please keep posts respectable! I respect your opinion just as much as you respect mine!
