Pures

Pure means untainted. It means flawless, and entirety. Which, in scape means no defense. It does not mean the account is optimized for combat. That is a pker. By definition, a PURE is one defense. Because it is PURELY offensive. With zero defense, not the "right amount" of defense.

1 def = pure

2-4def = failed pure, impure, but so close to being a pure that we just call it pure, but technically its not.

5 def = steel pure

6-9 def = failed steel pure

10 def = black pure?

etc

any sort of pure with any sort of armour that requires higher def lvl than 1 isnt pure, not saying it couldnt be an ownage build for pking with higher def, but it aint pure.

getting from 20-30def+95prayer today, is a bigger difference than getting from 20-40def a few years ago. therefore it disgusts me that pure clans today accept 'turmoil pures' and still call themselves pure clans.

100% this.

101% this. That also made me ****.

im speaking of the original pure in rs2, the game we're playing, not rs classic. and ye 1 prayer too but that changed for obvious reasons to something reasonable.

the concept that pretty much everyone in rs at the time considered a pure. 1 def, and prayer lvls was slowly accepted into the view of what a pure was because it only gave offensive bonuses to one with 1 def. offensive bonuses that exceeded what you would gain with similar stat increase in ex str+hp.

that quote of yours from some hf means squat to me btw, mainly because its stupid, example at that famous pure comment rofl, cant take it seriously at all. and again, im talking of the original pure in rs2, not rs classic. different game, different definition of word, different discussion.

Prayer as a measure of impurity was pretty quickly dropped by the pking community in classic because virtually all 'pures' above combat 38 had prayer (especially when the price of r2hs was above 200k). Below ~70 strength a good pure tended to not have prayer and above that they tended to have prayer due to the costs and the bonuses. The definition of a pure was pretty settled upon (at least on Runescape Community) to be hp>combat, no magic, and if low combat then no prayer. 'Prayer beasts', a type of 'pure', were all the rage in late 2002 to early 2003 but after that the term wasn't often used until RS2 came out and the mains left.
