Believe me or not, but there's a few items which you can technically merch, and no matter how unstable the market is, it'll work.

 

Buy as many purple sweets as you can for like 10 gp above minimum price. Once you've bought them all, sell them like 10-20 gp below mid price. Doesn't take long for it to buy/sell out completely. However, it'd be a good idea to !geupdate every now and then, since those prices have a tendency to go above the min price, making your buy-offer sleeping.

Spin flax. (Don't pick it! Buy flax from GE, spin into BS.) You about double whatever you put into it. (100k -> 200k -> 400k -> 800k -> 1.6M...)

 

If you have some working capital, you can tan green dragonhides. I made about 670k doing that yesterday. I started with 1k hides (about 1.8m).
