Big Future Updates

quote from His Lordship from Wilderness Guardians; who attended runefest Q&A.

Phoenix Necklaces ruining P2P, Overpowered weapons. Please nerf

This is probably going to be the most important piece of news.

The simple answer is YES, they will be adjusted.

There was a section on "The Future of Combat" that I attended.

Well... F*** the changes will almost be as big as the release of RS2:

1. Every weapon, armour and combat item will be restatted.

2. One-hitting will get nerfed as well, because armour stacks onto your HP so you could get in excess of 1000 HP with good armou. I don't know exactly how much the max will be.

3. The combat triangle WILL be complately balanced, and they will ensure that mages in particular have a distance advantage and be able to attack melee without getting smacked so easily, which will mean some stronger mage armour as well.

4. Mages will get spells like bind earlier on that become more effective as your level goes up (eg longer bind time). This also will happen to damage spells, so it will go according to your level rather than release fixed damage as before.

5. Special attacks will also be bound to your combat level. Instead of special attacks for certain weapons, your special bar works for all weapons and gets stronger as you do.

6. Combat will be re-jigged to be more interactive, meaning you can click things more in order to deal more damage, rather than click once and just idle. Idle combat will still work but you will add a little more damage if you are actively fighting and clicking.

7. Slash/Stab/Crush etc styles will impact combat much more.

8. Weapons will be given different advantages. So instead of everyone wearing full rune with scimitars, they will balance the weapons out better so that other weapons such as daggers or maces, will actually be useful because they will be specially effective against certain types of players etc.

9. MUCH, MUCH MORE! http://qik.com/video/45431050 for a rather crappy video showing the first half of that session. The hosts are great and this is going to totally DESTROY and REBUILD your understanding of wilderness combat.

13:20-13:55 in the video for a statement on heavily encouraging training your defence for the future updates.
