Basically its about people fighting inside of giant robots that have swords and guns and ****. It seemed cool when I was a kid, I imagine its not so cool now though. Its been forever since I've seen it. I used to have one of the video games for ps2 backkkkk in the day.

Clannad After Story, and Code Geass would probably be my top 2 above One Piece.

 

There's also Gintima, Kemono Souja no Erin, Fate Zero, Ano Hana, Elfen Lied, and Steins Gate that are probably on par with One Piece anime.

 

The manga is godly though.

Mmmm ya, the gore was a turn on for me, plus the animation was great, the main thing was the plot obviously and char development, and lucy's story.
